Rainbow Falls Walk, Kerikeri

(4.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
One of the area's most popular photo opportunities, picturesque Rainbow Falls Walk cascade over hard basalt rock into a shimmering pool. The 27 m (88.6 ft) fall is just a short walk away from the parking lot, but you can extend your visit with a number of longer scenic walks starting from this point. Bring a bathing suit along so you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool waters below. If the sun is shining, you'll see how the waterfall got its name. • The scale week than I thought. Went with the family was in the mood to walk lightly. Swimming was not very clean water to people. Fare from Kerikeri to visit one to ponder.

  • Nice walk through the bush on a well maintained track. A few up and downs but nothing to arduous. We started from the stone house and the timings on the DOC board are pretty good. The falls are a joy ...  more »
  • This is a lovely easy walk to see some great falls. The shaded path takes you further along the river to where the falls start if there are people swimming and you do not want them in your photographs...  more »

  • Definitely worth a look if you are in the area. Just a short 100m walk to the lookout at the top, and a short 5 min walk down to the pool at the back of the falls for the best view. Couldn't see a rainbow, but maybe the conditions weren't right. Still beautiful though!
  • A beautiful waterfall. 3 vantage points are good and offer nice views of the fall. Easily accessible by foot. Ample parking as well.
  • Beautiful views and great walks. Different length walks so something suitable for everyone.
  • Stunning waterfall. Short walk to the falls. Lovely for the whole family.
  • Pretty to look at. A very short walk to the lookouts (2 minutes from the carpark), and a little bit longer to get to the pool at the base of the falls where you can swim out to the waterfall.
