Hundertwasser public toilets, Kawakawa

(4.3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Indisputably one of New Zealand's most unusual attractions, Hundertwasser public toilets represent an international work of art. Designed by reclusive Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, this block of public restrooms features trademark wavy lines, irregular ceramic tiles, and splashes of bright color. The architect made extensive use of recycled materials, including the community's spent glass bottles and bricks from a former Bank of New Zealand branch.
