  • Te Ahu center is worth visiting, it is beautiful with all the carvings, and gives a good insight of the local history.  more »
  • Serene, majestic and relevant. A must visit. Staff very helpful. A true community tourist hub. Most spectacular foyer I have ever seen.  more »
  • Its nothing special, its an information center. Admittedly, Kiatia is about as removed from New York or London as you can get and there's no Metropolitan Museum within walking distance but it's still ...  more »

  • . (03/2017) One of the most beautiful -SITE centres across the country I have ever been to very well decorated and well maintained. Friendly and informative staff. Souvenir collection is limited. You can find the council office located on first floor. A museum and a movie theater are located inside which provide good insight into history and culture. It was a memorable experience.
  • Some people regard Te Ahu as an eyesore, or blight. But to be honest, it's one of the last refuges of cultural history in Northland. While other places are concerned with increasing awareness of current cultural needs, Te Ahu quietly absorbs, maintains, catalogues and archives our heritage for future generations. The cinema is miniscule, stadium seating, with a screen little bigger than my TV. Pricing is fine. Museum is small but good, with a donation entry. Library is fairly good, but not extensive.
  • Wow what a superb building! So beautiful! Maori Carvings very intricate. Birds look wonderful.
  • Pros: It's fantastic that somewhere as small as Kaitaia gets to have the latest movies on the big screen. The seats are comfy and although the screen is not huge, it's a classic old-style cinema. Cons: Between three visits, we found the majority of other patrons to be older women who seem blissfully unaware just how rude it is to chatter during a movie or to laugh at tense moments in a thriller.
  • As a movie/library/everything else it may be great but as a tourist information stop it was overly complicated and not user-friendly.
