  • Had seen the leaflet in our motel so popped in as we drove past thinking it would be an interesting couple of hours, enjoyed ourselves and stayed ALL DAY!!!
  • We went - family with kids 10 & 7, and the whole Shantytown is super commercial and feels fake. The bulldog on the front counter needs a cup of happiness , however the lady on the train and gold panni...  more »

  • The welcome by the staff member at the entry who took our money was not to good, they had to be prompted to say hello. They did not offer us any info on the place such as there is an audio guide available if you wish etc. The cafe food choice was poor but the coffee was okay. The girl that served us in the ice cream/sweet shop was happy and cheerful. The exhibits were good and it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Just need to work on their customer welcome.
  • Visiting Shanty Town makes for a real trip down memory lane. The museum in particular with the old dental nurses chair, the iron lung in the hospital area both struck deep chords from the past.Enjoy your visit!
  • It is interesting but couldn't say totally worth the ticket price
  • Still a tad expensive, though I can appreciate that running costs must be fairly high! Their coffee is NOT recommended though!
  • Expensive for what you get. Young children will enjoy the train ride, and mine got to ride in the engine. The demonstration of the mining water cannon was interesting. We found the staff friendly and helpful, especially the train crew.
