Glenorchy Lagoon Boardwalk, Glenorchy

(4.6/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Take an easy stroll along Glenorchy Lagoon Boardwalk, where you can soak up the breathtaking views and abundant nature of the lagoon and surrounding mountains. Capture pictures of Mt. Earnslaw (known also, in Māori, as Pikirakatahi) at one of the many viewing platforms, among the scenery where Peter Jackson filmed scenes for "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Numerous benches dotted along the walkway provide great places to picnic, all offering fine views of the surrounding landscape. An abundant diversity of nature in and around the lagoon, including the famous black swan, make it a fantastic spot for keen bird watchers and families alike.
