Bushmere Estate, Gisborne

4.7
#3 of 7 in Wineries in Gisborne Region
BUSHMERE Estate is 100% family owned. The family has been growing grapes for over 32 years. During this time there have

been huge changes in the industry, from the growing of bulk grapes to the quality wines that are now world class.

The vineyard is 17 hectares in the Central Valley Region of Gisborne District, growing mainly Chardonnay grapes, along with smaller plantings of Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Pinot Gris. The family also owns an interest in a nearby vineyard of 15 hectares, from where they source the fruit for their Merlot.

The name Bushmere Estate was chosen as the area was referred to as ‘Bushmere’ on old maps of the district. The Bushmere logo represents the three elements vital to the growing of grapes – earth, water and sun.

Bushmere Estate is open for appointment during the winter months for wine tastings.

  • Wow!!! This was by far the best wine tasting I have ever enjoyed! Wine makers were very knowledgeable and provided the perfect accompaniments for each wine. The dessert wine and chocolate at the end was divine!! If you're in Gisborne, Bushmere is a must! Thank you so so much for your hospitality!
  • Superb wine tasting experience. Plenty of wines to taste and great little bites of food to go along with each. We received really good info about each of the wines from the owner. Can definitely recommend.
  • Anything I say won't be able to do our experience justice. Everything was amazing, the staff, the food, the experience, the wine. I drank Gewurztraminer which was really good. I sate salmon, they were kind enough to make it as a main. Delicious. But my favorites were the raviolis. who knew that they could be so delicious? And the prices were reasonable. 12 for Focaccia with dips, 34 for main, 8 per glass of wine, 14 for penna cotta wıth espresso ice cream and mascarpone.
  • A really nice place for lunch. Mains were very good with excellent flavour combinations. But the dessert was exceptional. Amelia Sparkling Pinot Gris with lunch went down very well.
