Fox Glacier Hiking Trails, Fox Glacier
(4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Offering visitors a chance to combine sightseeing with exercise, Fox Glacier Hiking Trails include a mix of routes that range from relatively easy to extremely tough. Though some visitors pay for guided walks on the glacial ice, you can also choose from several free trails traversing this area and offering outstanding viewpoints. One of the shortest and easiest walks suited to most hikers follows a valley formed by the retreating glacier eons ago. Do note, however, that possible falling rocks and rough terrain make this a hazardous environment. Check the trail and weather conditions before you set off, wear warm and weatherproof clothing, and carry enough drinking water for everyone in your party. • The walk to the base is short and relatively easy. Unfortunately with the receding glaciers there is not much to see is some areas, but it is still worth it to make the hike and imagine what once was.
