  • A lovely tribute to the settlers who landed in Dunedin many decades ago. The place is surprisingly bigger than you would expect - with the many different facets of Dunedin life splayed out across different exhibitions. You are encouraged to interact with the displays via touch screens and larger than life buses where you can get on and pretend to be in a bus from the 1950s. Extremely educational and well done to the folks behind this! Highly recommended!
  • A great museum to learn about the history of the Otago region and the way it was settled. Can't beat the free price. Allow at least 2 hours to see the bare minimum of this museum. If you spend more and look at things in detail you won't be bored if you like to learn. I highly recommend this stop, especially as a tourist.
  • It's free to enter. If you like NZ history then this is the place to come. Bring the kids cause there are many interactive displays. Mums & Dads will love the kiwi icons, Edmonds cookbooks & cars on display. Grandparents can reminisce about all the toys from their childhood & have a laugh at the hip outfits they use to wear back in the day. Take a camera cause your going to want to take plenty of photos. Give yourself plenty of time to be able to take in all the displays.
  • This is a really nice museum all about the history of Otago. They have amazing exhibits, including a room full of portraits of many of the original settlers and a room that was designed to be like the cheap cabins in the ships that sailed to New Zealand. It is a really nice place to bring kids too.
  • Great place to take the family and hear about Dunedin's history. Try on some clothing from that era or simply see if you can find some of your relations in the "face room". Plenty for everyone including some good food.
