Take to the waters at Moana Pool, a multi-purpose pool and leisure complex. With a centerpiece Olympic-sized pool, diving area, leisure pool, and even a separate pool for learners, the center makes a great place for a first lesson or for experienced swimmers. The waterslides provide a fun activity for the kids, while an adult-only heated spa pool offers peaceful relaxation. Those not wanting to get wet can spend time in the extensive viewing area, cafe, or swim shop. Make Moana Pool a part of your Dunedin vacation plans using our Dunedin vacation planner .

  • Good to see young children now have to wear a wrist band so lifeguards can quickly see if they are away from their caregivers. The waterslides are great for all ages. Aquajogging is loads of fun.  more »
  • Wow, what a terrible experience. Took some time out from study to go for a swim here and promptly realised I wasn't allowed to do a bloody thing. I got followed around the whole time by 2 staff member...  more »
  • We took our kids here for a break from walking/hiking but with the water slides there is no relaxing. Hugely fun for mum, dad & the kids. The play pool has a wave function every half an hour which was...  more »

  • I have 12 months subscription and swim regularly there. The pool itself is fine but the attitude is pretty much we are the only pool here so we can do what ever. Every month or so they just close it for competition or school but instead of telling you sorry it's closed they leave one or 2 lanes open for the whole of Dunedin. Waste of time. What really annoyed me today though is that I called to put my subscription on hold for a month because I just had emergency surgery but I have to come in and pay 10$ to do that. Really? What a joke.
  • Love the pool, if you want a peaceful swim without the crowds, go at night open until 10pm Monday to Thursday
  • Excellent facilities and great for the kids. Plenty of options for any type of swim that you may want to do.
  • The pool is great and they offer swimming lessons for adults. The gym is also located within the facility. WARNING: Never leave anything valuable inside your car that is visible. My car got broken in the carpark because I forgot to bring my handbag with me. There are thieves in the area watching for people coming in and out of the carpark.
  • Good place to swim lanes, but as a typical student I'm always going to want cheaper rates

Where to stay in Dunedin

Many of the accommodations in Dunedin are based around the central George Street thoroughfare, including a wide range of hotels and hostels. Rental apartments represent a fine way to stay in Dunedin, and may appeal more to those wanting to stay on the move or take in the town and the surrounding landscape at their own pace. Campsites situated to the north and east of the town center give you more economical options, while motels cluster along the main highways, convenient if you're coming by car.
