  • Really beautiful building, Dalton mosaic tiles, dating 1906. The art gallery showcased local artists. The NZ sports hall of fame was worth the $6 entry fee. The outside gardens, with the pretty boxus hedging were nice and lots of visitors were milling about, quite a popular tourist destination when we visited. A really nice space all round. Cool place to visit.
  • Dunedin Railway Station is a wonderful place to visit. It's architecture includes beautiful mosaics and embellishments. It is one out of 200 of the most photographed buildings in the world. Well worth a visit. You may even see Steampunks or Victorians there.
  • Train was on time and plenty of places. Drinkes rolled in and the staff Even dressed up for the occasion. Sights were pointed out by the team and the speakers were loud and clear. Almost cars were dated but fitted the theme of the railway line. All good and well Worth going out for a look.
  • Nice architecture and well maintained. Some good photo opportunities inside with the mosaics. Go up the stairs to take a picture from above.
  • Beautiful train trip up the gorge. So glad Dunedinites banded together to save the train. Well worth a half day visit!

Many of the accommodations in Dunedin are based around the central George Street thoroughfare, including a wide range of hotels and hostels. Rental apartments represent a fine way to stay in Dunedin, and may appeal more to those wanting to stay on the move or take in the town and the surrounding landscape at their own pace. Campsites situated to the north and east of the town center give you more economical options, while motels cluster along the main highways, convenient if you're coming by car.
