Dunedin Chinese Garden, Dunedin
(3.9/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Escape the bustle of the city at the tranquil Dunedin Chinese Garden, designed in the style of late Ming/early Qing gardens. Sheltered by 4 m (14 ft) walls, wander the paths from courtyard to courtyard, among immaculately landscaped vegetation that changes with the turning of the seasons. In addition to a large lake, the garden features a traditional tea house, serving Chinese teas, steamed buns, and dumplings. Puzzles and games offer mental diversion, while an audio guide explains the history of the Chinese in Dunedin. • My niece and I were in awe of the beauty and splendour of this and lots of photos taken. It was interesting to read of how this all came about.

  • It's not too bad; but all the money that was spent on it I don't think it's as good as it could have been. I've been to the one in Sydney and it was really great. I guess there's a big difference between Sydney and Dunedin in size though. Would be good if had decent Chinese cafe for a start.
  • It was such a peaceful place to be within a busy city. It represents the cultural diversity and the very hardworking Chinese who came to this country so long ago. I would to return again.
  • Really peaceful here. Nice as a change of scenery from the usual gardens/parks.
  • Amazing place, good tea, very peaceful
  • It was a very tranquil place with beautiful gardens and wondeful atmosphere
