Mount Victoria Reserve, Devonport

Nature / Park
Head up to Mount Victoria Reserve for panoramic views of the Auckland skyline across Waitemata Harbour. Aside from the scenery, the park features a field of "painted mushrooms" that serve as decorative vents for an underground water pumping station. You can reach the reserve via a 10-20 minute uphill walk or by driving, biking, or riding a Segway. Parking at the top is limited. On your way up, stop in at the historical Signalman’s House, which used to inform locals of ship departures and arrivals. The access road also features numerous shops and cafes. Bring a jacket because it's often blustery at the top. Add Mount Victoria Reserve and other attractions to your Devonport trip itinerary using our Devonport vacation generator.

  • Awesome views. Recommended for a date @sunset time. You can go driving or by ferry. Great checkpoint if you are around northsore city.
  • Great views! It's I pretty good workout to get to the top if you walk the whole way but it's not too difficult or technical. Just go at your place and be rewarded by the awesome views of the city, ocean, and nearby islands.
  • Beautiful views of Auckland city and Rangitoto Island on the other side. Easy access by car or foot.
  • Beautiful view for all the family to enjoy even take a picnic if not too windy
  • Well worth the hike. Beautiful views in all directions.
