The Waterworks, Coromandel

(4.4/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Home to an array of creative contraptions, many of which utilize recycled materials, The Waterworks stands as a veritable playground of invention, ingenuity, and creativity--and a decidedly kid-friendly one at that. Wander the complex's 2 hectares (5 acres) of lush grounds and marvel at over 70 oddball water-powered contraptions, including a water-fueled clock, water cannons, water bikes, and more. You can even unleash your competitive spirit by trying your hand at the park's miniature boat races. Bring along some snacks to enjoy afterwards at the onsite picnic area. Be sure to check the website for information regarding bookings, events, and special offers. Make The Waterworks part of your personalized Coromandel itinerary using our Coromandel holiday planner.

  • Someone has a great imagination, huge amounts of fun, but for me only a summer time visit. There is a fairly good chance that you are going to get wet. Will be back with gullible friends soon.

  • Hidden away down a Long gravel road , This place was fantastic we had so much fun checking out all the hand made water operated things , a must do if you have kids full of energy you want them to burn off
  • An amazing afternoon treat. The drive up was scenic as always along the Coromandel coast and the much improved 309 road since I was a kid :). Our family of 8 ( 6 children, ranging from 4yrs to 18yrs), were able to do all of the activities regardless of age, everything was hands on so our boys loved it!! The ingenious squirting activities, to see who could get who, and the flying bikes were the favourites? Having a variety of picnic and bbq places to choose from definitely made it easier for us. Seriously so much fun, have already recommended to friends.
  • Been here 3 times. By myself and also with others. Very cool. Creative ideas and the people behind it have a wonderful sense of humor. God bless
  • This place is amazing to spend the day. Take a picnic
  • Great fun! Visit the Waterworks and be a big kid again for a few hours. The Flying Fox was a highlight! :)
