The Waterworks, Coromandel

(440+ reviews on the web)
Entertainment Center
Home to an array of creative contraptions, many of which utilize recycled materials, The Waterworks stands as a veritable playground of invention, ingenuity, and creativity--and a decidedly kid-friendly one at that. Wander the complex's 2 hectares (5 acres) of lush grounds and marvel at over 70 oddball water-powered contraptions, including a water-fueled clock, water cannons, water bikes, and more. You can even unleash your competitive spirit by trying your hand at the park's miniature boat races. Bring along some snacks to enjoy afterwards at the onsite picnic area. Be sure to check the website for information regarding bookings, events, and special offers. Make The Waterworks part of your personalized Coromandel itinerary using our Coromandel holiday planner.

  • Best and quirkiest theme park! Fantastic to take kids here and you could easily spend 3-4 hours here. It's entertaining even for adults. Best part is, it's all hand made. I took inspiration from here for my garden. Has a café with good food and coffee. A bit tricky to get here due to the windy road, but worth the visit.
  • Good if you have kids in your group. Otherwise, it is $25 to see a number of water cannons. The wheel in the carpark seemed to promise so much more. Disappointing.
  • My favourite theme park. This sort of place really only exists in New Zealand
  • Love it here. We have two children (15 & 11) and both find it great fun, especially the swimming hole if the weather is right! Bring a picnic or use the BBQs, or just chill at the on site cafe, but have fun.
  • Unique place. Friendly owner. Good For a short 1 hr stopover
