The Waterworks, Coromandel

Home to an array of creative contraptions, many of which utilize recycled materials, The Waterworks stands as a veritable playground of invention, ingenuity, and creativity--and a decidedly kid-friendly one at that. Wander the complex's 2 hectares (5 acres) of lush grounds and marvel at over 70 oddball water-powered contraptions, including a water-fueled clock, water cannons, water bikes, and more. You can even unleash your competitive spirit by trying your hand at the park's miniature boat races. Bring along some snacks to enjoy afterwards at the onsite picnic area. • The Waterworks, I don't remember who did everything, but it was a genius for sure. He managed to do, by mostly of recovery, a lot of buildings, water games, games tout court of great level. Children and adults, fun. Downside: many of the games and need a reset! Do it please ...

  • We had the nachos, baked beans and lasagne. Everyone enjoyed the food and drinks were good too. There is good access for the disabled or elderly. We have been back again. It is reasonably priced. Thei...  more »
  • We had a terrific time at this place. My kids are early teens and we had a fab time trying to wet each other, working out how each piece squirts and reading the quirky boards. We finished it off with ...  more »

  • A lot of fun. Enjoyed a beautiful afternoon there. Unfortunately not quite what it used to be when I went as a child. Still has all the same great attractions and a few more. Could do with a bit of TLC and a fix up as some rides are broken. Still has a lot of charm with it's witty humour and clever use of recycled materials. Great for a day with the family. Lots of learning for young kids. Also has a great picnic space with a playground to keep the young ones entertained - comes with BBQ's provided.
  • Amazing place in the midsts of forest. A must stop place if you are on hilly THE 309 road for theme park, fun activities, souvenirs, break, relax, coffee or refreshing drinks.
  • The Waterworks is a playground actualy for all ages. There are more than 70 attractions to look at or interact with including a water cannons, mini boats, bicycle-powered water-pumps, flying fox, natural swimming hole, a 10m high water powered clock, and river swimming area. You will be soaked and screamed! Also, there is a large fusion cafe with indoor and outdoor facilities and a gift shop. Unfortunately, approx. one-third of attractions didn't work at the time of my visit that place. You have to be prepared to use a regular map or/and your intuition because some part of the road are invisiable on GPS's units and the Waterworks is not marked as a point of interest. Open 9am – 6pm in summer November – April and from 10am – 4pm May – October. Children 3 & under FREE.
  • Hydraulic mechanism interesting. I feel the storey written on the board about old day is fun.
  • This is the most fun place in all of ND, for ALL ages! Highly recommend anyone in Coromandel to go visit. Guarantee you not be disappointed
