Gannet Colony, Clifton
Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Witness the annual en masse nesting and the amusing antics of Gannet Colony. About 1,200 pairs of gannets, large white seabirds, nest here each year, and hundreds of these little homes are built just centimeters apart. Later in the season you can see the hatchlings and watch as they learn to fly. Observe all this from a viewing platform above the nesting area, and enjoy views of Muriwai Beach. Choose between walking and riding a tractor down the long beach to the attraction. Use our Clifton vacation trip planner to add Gannet Colony and other attractions to your Clifton vacation plans.

It was a long drive to the location. but what we got to see was a beautiful gannet colony. It was stinking due to the poo but you can't do anything about it.. Its their house. LOL
Watching the birds and had the story from our local guide was very impressing and spectacular. Highly recommended!
