Gannet Colony, Clifton

(5/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Witness the annual en masse nesting and the amusing antics of Gannet Colony. About 1,200 pairs of gannets, large white seabirds, nest here each year, and hundreds of these little homes are built just centimeters apart. Later in the season you can see the hatchlings and watch as they learn to fly. Observe all this from a viewing platform above the nesting area, and enjoy views of Muriwai Beach. Choose between walking and riding a tractor down the long beach to the attraction. Use our Clifton vacation trip planner to add Gannet Colony and other attractions to your Clifton vacation plans.

  • The place is located in legendary place and the bass Gannet colony as such absolutely tremendous. To highlight the fact that the birds at a young age fly to Australia, is bored after a few years back and then on forever in the beautiful New Zealand remain!

  • We have visited the Gannet as the young fully grown but still not the final plumage had colony. At the upper colony is specifically land birds funny to watch the returning parents. Visit is highly recommended, especially on the tractor trailer.
