4.5/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
Step into another era at Riccarton House & Bush, the carefully restored homestead of the pioneering Deans family--the first Europeans to settle in the Canterbury Plains. Take a guided tour of their grand Victorian and Edwardian house (it was built in stages), decorated and furnished in accurate period style, and visit the Deans' cottage, the family's first home and oldest building on the plains. Afterwards, enjoy a rustic, locally sourced meal at the restaurant, located within the house itself, or enjoy a peaceful stroll through the ornate gardens and surrounding bush--home to towering kahikatea trees some 600 years old. A popular farmer's market is held every Saturday on the site. Use our Christchurch holiday planner to add Riccarton House & Bush and other attractions to your Christchurch vacation plans.
