For a special shopping experience in Christchurch Central City, visit Re:START, a modern mall and eatery made from shipping containers. This attraction was built as a temporary mall after the devastating earthquake of 2011, but has remained a fixture of the city ever since. Now, tourists come to view the unique architecture and browse the many shops, cafes, and food carts. Here, you will find big-name retailers and local boutiques in a one-of-a-kind setting. • you'll find the best coffee in town just there, also there are many shops and restaurants to enjoy the evening.
  • Worth a visit if you're visiting christchurch. Warning - everything closes early! (like 5pm-ish most days) Mostly just overpriced tourist shops but something to do. There are some tasty food trucks and outdoor seating in the back corner (or front depending on where you start)
  • If your looking for fashion and souveniers this place will suffice it all. A very unique shopping experince where retail outlet shops are made of the container van painted in beautiful solid colors. Along with it has a nice and decent street foods from bento to dumbling, from pizza to burger that surely will satisfy your tummy.
  • A wide selection of stores built into shipping containers in the sadly devastated central city area of Christchurch. There are plenty of offbeat and individual gift ideas to be found here, it makes a change from the usual identikit high street stores you find everywhere else, if that is more your thing then head down Riccarton Road to the Westfield shopping centre instead. This place embodies the Christchurch spirit of fighting back against the damage from the terrible earthquakes.
  • A unique and creative response to the 2011 earthquakes, a small shopping mall built from shipping containers. Was supposed to be removed but locals and visitors love it so much that its time has been extended.
  • Great place to hang out, full of excellent food places - I recommend the wood fired pizza! Parking is a pain though. There are two car parks nearby, one privately owned by Wilsons Parking and a public one. I recommend finding the public owned one, the prices are much better.
