  • I enjoy seeing and reading about history and this place has lots of that on offer. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
  • Fun to step back in time. Though a bit run down
  • A great place to come and see history of Our country and life how it was. All the staff and volunteers were great.
  • Ferrymead Heritage Park provides a full day of exploration, learning and entertainment. There is so much to explore and see. I highly recommended visiting on a Steam day to take a few rides on the steam train. If you're a local visitor the annual family pass is an amazing deal.
  • Waste of money, I went in with my family only to find nothing open inside, We especially wanted to see the fire engine for my son, i told the lady this and she said that it would be open . So we paid the $20 each only to find it was closed, the only thing going was the tram. I was offered a ticket to come back the next day but we were going back home that day.

Where to stay in Christchurch

Offering an extensive range of hotels, hostels, motels with kitchens, and campsites, Christchurch makes a great place to set up camp as you explore the city and beyond. The greatest diversity of accommodations clusters in the city center next to North and South Hagley parks. You'll find apartments, boutique and luxury hotels, and backpacker hostels in the central district and towards the coast, while cheaper places to stay--such as motels, RV parks, and economy hotels--dot the outskirts and the area surrounding the airport.
