  • Small market but really lovely! All stands are artisan/local/handmade, and the live music is always good. The setting is near a small river and it is all quite picturesque. Bike friendly with lots of areas to lock up.
  • Everytime we visit Christchurch (twice a year from Perth) we ensure we visit these markets ... love the atmosphere, variety of goods for sale, always get a BRATWURST roll from the infectious fun personality gent who cooks it up and the beautiful fruit juices, vegetables and so much more ... even went when it was lightly raining ... love the winding brook with the birdlife too ... sometimes there‚Äôs busking musicians also !
  • Lovely little market in a beautiful place. Unaffected by the passing of time. Go have a breath :)
  • Fantastic place! Definitely recommend the chai tea stand, the fresh breads, the jerky... Actually, all the stalls are great. Take cash to avoid the queue and fees at the atm ($3 per withdrawal). Allow plenty of time to meander about.
  • Great amount of produce, snacks and wonderfully made things. Kid and dog friendly.

Where to stay in Christchurch

Offering an extensive range of hotels, hostels, motels with kitchens, and campsites, Christchurch makes a great place to set up camp as you explore the city and beyond. The greatest diversity of accommodations clusters in the city center next to North and South Hagley parks. You'll find apartments, boutique and luxury hotels, and backpacker hostels in the central district and towards the coast, while cheaper places to stay--such as motels, RV parks, and economy hotels--dot the outskirts and the area surrounding the airport.
