Where to stay in Christchurch

Offering an extensive range of hotels, hostels, motels with kitchens, and campsites, Christchurch makes a great place to set up camp as you explore the city and beyond. The greatest diversity of accommodations clusters in the city center next to North and South Hagley parks. You'll find apartments, boutique and luxury hotels, and backpacker hostels in the central district and towards the coast, while cheaper places to stay--such as motels, RV parks, and economy hotels--dot the outskirts and the area surrounding the airport.

  • The bridge was built to honor those who died in WWI, and also serves as a memorial to those who served in other wars and conflicts. It is nice to see a memorial in such a prominent location.  more »
  • Recently restored after the earthquakes, this site is still surrounded by construction work around the city and near the Avon River Worth a walk past and a photograph.  more »
  • Worth stopping and admiring when walking along the Avon or in town. It is lovely architecture and good to see the free table tennis table being used by locals  more »

  • Beautiful bridge in a beautiful part of the city. Also I walked across the bridge and didn't fall in or anything, so you know, good bridge and stuff.
  • Cool piece of architecture and history. Glad it survived the quake.
  • Great to see it finally finished being repaired.
  • A lot of construction work nearby.
  • A visit to this memorial is a must to fully appreciate the supreme sacrifice made by hundreds of New Zealanders in world conflicts.
