  • A reasonable skifield for the Southern Hemisphere winter (or Northern Hemisphere summer, as evidenced by professional European teams training here). Relatively easy access along a dirt road and parking options if you get there early enough. Has an excellent terrain park. Overall, would suit beginners and intermediates. Advanced skiers may find the runs a little short and flat. Very friendly staff.
  • Only have Mt. Hutt to compare it to but Cardrona is really a lot better. As a someone new to snowboarding it was a good introduction to the sport. Had a lesson in the morning and was on the slopes by mid day. Good beginner and intermediate trails, would definitely go again.
  • Great facilities and ski field for families! Amazing nursery for little ones. Jon Gass is the best instructor I've met! It was the most productive and enjoyable lesson. Wish to have more time to take a private lesson with him!
  • I snowboard and I have always loved Cadrona. Its an awesome place to learn - the tracks are wide, especially in the beginner area/Mcdougalls chair, making it great for beginner boarders learning to turn! The field is also great for intermediate riders and those wanting to start at terrain parks - usually there are a good range of difficulties set up. Its perhaps not quite challenging enough though for advanced boarders/skiiers, esp if you are not into terrain parks. Access road to the field is unsealed but pretty gentle and wide. Getting there from Wanaka is easy. Trickier to get to from Queenstown - you will need to drive through the Crown Ranges which can be tricky with snow/ice conditions.
  • We really loved our 3 days skiing at Cadrona. The kids spent time in ski school and progressed so much for first time skiers. There were no queues to speak of and the trails were well setup. Looking forward to going back and seeing the new Chondala in operation.
