  • Is considered to be the southernmost point of mainland New Zealand. There is also the Stewart Island further South, which belongs to the country, but this is extreme continental, where Highway 1, which runs through the North Island from South to North. It is possible to see the Stewart Island and, further South, Antarctica. Yellow plates are iconic, and deserve a picture. Soon after, the best restaurant in town.

  • Got the obligatory pic at Stirling Point. But be patient - we had to wait a while as we competed with the hordes of tourists wanting the same thing - don’t be shy in showing some leadership as it can ...  more »
  • Spent the day in Bluff to look around. Seeing the sign for the southern most mainland point before Antarctica was exciting. The views are beautiful too.  more »

  • If you're in Bluff take a quick drive or walk to Stirling Point. It's the last signpost of NZ and just a quick picture opportunity for those inclined, but there are also some spectacular views of the coast. If you're a bit hungry Oyster Cove restaurant nearby has amazing food, but a bit of a price tag as well. If you have the $ it's worth the stop. You can get the famous Bluff oysters there prepared for you in 4 ways.
  • If you're in the area, you should visit for 10-20 minutes or so. It's a fun view and great photo op., but not much else. I think I just like being at the end of large land masses. The parking was pretty full in mid February, but since people don't spend long there, spaces open up.
  • Very touristy and basically a sign at the end of a road on a cliff. If your in the town already why not, but to travel all that way I can definitely think of other things to do with my 3 hours return trip! However: May is Bluff Oyster season. If you go in May definitely visit and try the seasonal oysters and make a lunch of it. Make sure you ask for Bluff Oysters!!
  • Nice place. Have a walk and enjoy the birds. Have a coffee or some seafood in the restsurant but check if change is correct.
  • Nice little view that tries to compete with Cap Reinga but still has a long way to go! Still cool to see where some cities are from here ✌️
