Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, Blenheim
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Take a journey through the history of flight and see numerous historical artifacts, including the insignia from Red Baron's own plane, at Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. Started by a dedicated group of aviation enthusiasts, the museum is especially renowned for its impressive collection of biplanes and triplanes from the World War I era, including the personal collection of celebrated film director Peter Jackson. Inspect legends of the skies like an Airco DH.4 and other extremely rare machines, such as the Caproni Ca.22. Special sections of the museum focus on pivotal moments in the history of flight and famous events of World War I. The museum also offers you the chance to soar through the skies and enjoy the views from the backseat of a biplane. Put Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre into our Blenheim trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Even if you're not particularly into aviation, treat yourself to a visit to Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, even if it's just to see the stunning displays Peter Jackson and his Weta crew have put together here. A first class attraction.

Great exhibition and enthusiastic guides. Nice coffee at the cafe as well. Have just visited a second time, the exhibition is really fantastic and the volunteers are really enthusiastic and helpful too.
Another great Museum you have to go and see. Great to see some of the old planes.
Incredible place . It's like being there. You could get lost in the atmosphere.
