Viaduct Harbour, Auckland
(4.4/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
Formerly Auckland's busy commercial port, Viaduct Harbour now serves as an upscale residential and dining area. This once run-down neighborhood received a major makeover in the 1990s and boosted its international profile by hosting the popular America's Cup sailing events in 2003. In addition to fashionable apartments, the quarter contains a string of chic restaurants, drawing well-heeled Aucklanders and tourists looking for a fancy dining experience. If you don't feel like dressing up for dinner, stroll around the precinct for a chance to soak up the local atmosphere and see some of the country's most expensive yachts. Viaduct Harbour is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Auckland Edition.

  • Beautiful harbor withlots of boats, restaurants and some shops. You could eat at a different place every day of the month.
  • It's a beautiful place to check out. Cafes and the smell of the sea air. Nice of a nite to walk along. Plenty to see.
  • Lots of things to see down here, the maritime museum or just people watch or boat watch. Plenty of seating dotted around the place as well.

  • Viaduct is a nice place to go for a stroll around the harbourside. There is food available in some decent and some swanky restaurants At night it livens up a lot with some of Auckland's best bars.
  • Great out door open space
  • . (14/07/2012) Beautiful place One of the best harbours I have ever been to Used to take a long walk around at times and enjoy the view Crowded over weekends and holidays Wonder how it will be like for people working while facing this view all the time...
  • Very noisy at night during nightlife, impossible to have a good night sleep. The staff is nice but have little consideration for the yacht in transit. For example the trash can are moved by the security guard at 3:00AM after the garbage truck empty them around 2:00AM. When I have highlighted the issue the answer was "This is how we are doing for the last 8 years". Also the marina is occupied by "charter" motor yacht that are becoming real night club when at berth. • Great place to hang out, many choices for dining out.
