Viaduct Harbour, Auckland

(2,600+ reviews on the web)
Marina Landmark
Formerly Auckland's busy commercial port, Viaduct Harbour now serves as an upscale residential and dining area. This once run-down neighborhood received a major makeover in the 1990s and boosted its international profile by hosting the popular America's Cup sailing events in 2003. In addition to fashionable apartments, the quarter contains a string of chic restaurants, drawing well-heeled Aucklanders and tourists looking for a fancy dining experience. If you don't feel like dressing up for dinner, stroll around the precinct for a chance to soak up the local atmosphere and see some of the country's most expensive yachts. Viaduct Harbour is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Auckland Edition.

  • Good place to meet friends, eat and drink. Good variety of restaurants.
  • Very nice area with very nice restaurants on the sidewalk. Wish I had money to eat there... But once in a while it would be worth it!
  • The Viaduct Harbour was the perfect place to meet friends when were were back visiting Auckland recently. Lots of interesting photo opportunities and great places to eat and drink
  • Tip for Photographers: Great spot to take a shot of Auckland city's landscape
  • Viaduct is a nice place to go for a stroll around the harbourside. There is food available in some decent and some swanky restaurants At night it livens up a lot with some of Auckland's best bars.
