Charge your camera for panoramic photographs from SkyTower, the tallest structure in New Zealand. Auckland's eye-catching landmark, this 328 m (1,076 ft) observation and telecommunications tower rises over the city's business district and remains best known for its unique needle-like design. An elevator whisks you to the top in less than 40 seconds, leaving plenty of time for breathtaking views from one of the observation decks. For an extra kick of adrenaline, take a peek at the city below through the glass-floor panels. If you happen to be here at sunset, you can see the colors changing over the city and enjoy a cocktail at the tower's cafe/bar. It’s a great place to head to the Skytower for an amazing view of Auckland. It’s easy to get into and with a link to the casino post the visit if you wish. Not a lot to do once you are at the top... more »
Elevator got us up there in no time at all. Was so neat to see all the views. We did this at night as it is less scary for me, as I'm afraid of heights. more »
Does exactly what it says on the tin! Great for all ages including kids. Best views from the upper deck, which they don’t take you to initially and could easily miss out on. more »
Sky Tower,Auckland was great. I'm not a height person at all so kept on the lower level though my husband went on the highest level. Apparently it was better in the sense of being closer to scenery and the decks went out further for better viewing. I,myself would imagine the top deck would be amazing for photographers.
Nice place to visit, have small meal/coffee. The sunset wasn't great but they cannot control the weather. The second level is nice, we didn't do the 360 exterior tour or the jump. Reasonably priced
The iconic symbol of central Auckland. Fabulous place to watch the fireworks. Love to watch the sunset behind the sky tower . Spend and hour in the cafe . Tea , coffee and cakes . Dine in the restaurant. They always have fun activities for children on the holidays. Check the website site for cost and opening and closing times. The view is terrific. Every time we have visitors from out of town we take them it’s a beautiful way to see the city . I am to scared to do the sky walk . Maybe you are braver than me .
Iconic tower offering amazing views of Auckland. I like the views from Mount Eden better - but this is pretty good too. The entrance is from the Sky City hotel and you need tickets. There are other adventurous things to do but we just went for the view and it was great. There are multiple cafes and a gift shop at the bottom with plenty of souvenirs.
As I had been to many sky towers in many cities I would say the basic experience is same. You get to feel the city from 360 perspective if weather cooperates with you. There are many ways to spend money here. I would recommend the panoramic view from top floors where you can savor Auckland view from different angles. For the brave heart there is bungee jumping and if your kids were thrill seeking they can walk outside the perimeter while being tethered. The market around is very lively and is full of bars, restaurants and shopping stores and its all very enjoyable even if you didn’t went up.
