Sky Tower, Auckland

4.4
Charge your camera for panoramic photographs from Sky Tower, the tallest structure in New Zealand. Auckland's eye-catching landmark, this 328 m (1,076 ft) observation and telecommunications tower rises over the city's business district and remains best known for its unique needle-like design. An elevator whisks you to the top in less than 40 seconds, leaving plenty of time for breathtaking views from one of the observation decks. For an extra kick of adrenaline, take a peek at the city below through the glass-floor panels. If you happen to be here at sunset, you can see the colors changing over the city and enjoy a cocktail at the tower's cafe/bar. • We got free entry to the Sky Tower as we were dining at The Sugar Club. The lifts to the top offer a great view as you look out to the city and surroundings. They also have a glass floor in part of th...  more »
  • We dined in the ORBIT restaurant, so we didn’t have to pay $29 for the ride up. But the views ARE amazing!  more »
  • We enjoyed one big dinner here and after the meal we went to the top and had a nice evening view of AKL, however the daytime view is better. We will come here again with friends in the future.  more »

  • The iconic Sky Tower, feature of Auckland's skyline, this impressive structure really stands out. You can go up for spectacular 360 degree views of the city and the harbour. There is also a revolving restaurant at the top where you can enjoy a pleasant meal while admiring the view. Then there is the Sky Fall for the adventurous of those among you.
  • Awesome view! The entire city was visible! Though it was very crowded so couldn't enjoy the views or get nice photos...but almost similar to sky towers around the world. Good enough to give the whole view! The souvenir shop was really good! Affordable prices
  • I have been here a few times now but every time I fail to understand the experience they give. Yes, views are lovely from top but there is nothing much if you going up only to see the views. Staff is also a mix of pleasant and not so pleasant group of people. There are a lot of eating options around the Sky Tower.
  • Entry is a bit obscure, inside the Casino entrance, then take the escalator down to the lower ground level. Best to arrive at 7:30-8pm to get the day view, sunset then city lights. If you have a few days, it’s only $4 extra for a 24 hour pass, so great value. The entry fee is around $28, less for senior citizens. Good value for such a great attraction. There are two viewing decks, cafe and restaurant, and we spent easily 1.5-2 hours on the first evening, and another hour the following day.
  • If you have a fear of heights …. forget it. The lift moves extremely fast and smooth. The best views of Auckland, the City of Sails, can be hand from here. It is a 360 degree view. Be careful as you walk and look in front of you as there are blocks on the ground made of glass on which you can stand. It is quite a shock if you don’t know about it and inadvertently end up standing on one and then looking down….it is 190 metres down. There are 5 levels to which the public can normally go. I suggest that you go to all of them. There are two restaurants which are a bit pricey as expected, but at least have one glass of wine, if only that you can tell your friends. Walk round the whole perimeter and spend time looking at the different landmarks and Auckland in general. A map of Auckland is essential on this trip. Please be vary of other tourists who also want to take photographs so don’t stand for hours while you partner takes endless photographs of you. It will be a unique experience. If you are not a budget tourist, or want to be a bit extravagant ,,,, eat something in one of the two restaurants…. the one rotates.
