Manukau Heads Lighthouse, Auckland
(4.5/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Take in the spectacular views of Manukau Harbor from Manukau Heads Lighthouse, dating back to 1874. Lighthouses are typically difficult to reach in New Zealand, but visitors can park near this attraction and take a short set of stairs to the site. The wooden lighthouse was rebuilt in 2006 using pieces from the original structure. Bring your camera for amazing photo ops, and be sure to search the waters directly below, where the rare Maui's dolphin takes refuge. Consider leaving a donation to the lighthouse for maintenance fees. For Manukau Heads Lighthouse and beyond, use our Auckland trip generator to get the most from your Auckland vacation.

  • After our wonderful 1 night stay at Cabbage Tree Cottage, nestled in the quiet rolling hills of the Awhitu peninsula, we drove 15 mins up to the lighthouse after a hearty country breakfast. Great view...  more »
  • It is a good option to access the lighthouse already that not everyone can be. It should take into account that it opens at 9 am but it closes early at 17 pm.

  • I am lucky enough to live locally to here, we bring our overseas visitors here, and they are never disappointed. The drive itself has some stunning views, and has a couple of picnic spots en route too...  more »
