(3.8/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Colorful butterflies and saltwater crocodiles come together at Butterfly Creek, a popular tourist attraction located just minutes from Auckland's international airport. This sanctuary contains a huge butterfly house, home to over 700 free-flying butterflies and exotic birds. A huge draw for families with kids, this site includes a playground area and offers train rides around a dinosaur-themed exhibit. After you see prehistoric creatures come to life, head to the interactive farmyard, where you can hold and pet cuddly creatures including rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas, sheep, and pigs. End your visit at the crocodile enclosure, housing two saltwater crocs originally from Australia. • Amazing place! Great for families.birthdays&work functions. Alot to do&great food! Loved the butterfly house was beautiful! Great staff&mini golf was awesome!soo much fun!a must do!👍👏☺
  • We took our toddler and infant to Butterfly Creek today and they had a wonderful time. There was plenty for my young children to do and interact with although it was disappointing that they were not able to enjoy the encounters with the animals as my toddler was pushed out of the way twice by adults pushing to the front. Plenty of seating and choice with both a cafe and a ice cream parlour. The layout is well designed so that areas could be avoided. My toddler was terrified of the giant pretend insects and spiders and we were able to walk around freely without going through that section again.
  • Came to Butterfly Creek on Friday with my 4 year old and friends, they had a blast, so much to do and see. The kids really loved the dinosaurs and the train, but their favourite was the farm yard where they got to feed the goats. A great place to bring young kids, I loved watching them explore and have fun. Had lunch in the cafe, the best soup ever!! I would visit just for the pumpkin soup alone. A great day out, highly recommended.
  • Yes a great place to go a must see for sure. Loved everything about it. Great for adults and children alike. Has a cafe a gift shop. And be able to vist a butterfly sanctuary. Also has aligators monkeys and other tropical animals plus also farm animals. Can take a train ride around. Oh and see some animated dinosaurs that's a must see. So on and enjoy
  • Butterfly Creek is such a great family day out! It has to be one of the most (or the most?!) interactive attractions in Auckland. The kids (aged 2, 5 & 6) loved the Dinosaur Kingdom, but it was my husband who we had to drag out of there. The kids especially loved the farm yard & getting to cuddle the rabbits. The Butterfly House was also a hit. Tip: wear pink! The butterflies were definitely landing more on our pink coat - apparently they are attracted to pink (& yellow & white).
