Wildlife Area Nature / Park
Colorful butterflies and saltwater crocodiles come together at Butterfly Creek, a popular tourist attraction located just minutes from Auckland's international airport. This sanctuary contains a huge butterfly house, home to over 700 free-flying butterflies and exotic birds. A huge draw for families with kids, this site includes a playground area and offers train rides around a dinosaur-themed exhibit. After you see prehistoric creatures come to life, head to the interactive farmyard, where you can hold and pet cuddly creatures including rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas, sheep, and pigs. End your visit at the crocodile enclosure, housing two saltwater crocs originally from Australia. • My grandson rang and asked to spend the day with me, so we decided to take him to Butterfly Creek. Good decision! We purchased the "All attraction" pass for $69 which gave entry to the farm, dinosaur ...  more »

  • Very enjoyable. Its not massive and you can get round it in 2 hours quite comfortably. The butterfly house was my favourite bit. I paid for the dinosaur park too but at 25 years old i think its more aimed at kids. Overall had a good time. Reasonable entry costs.
  • A great day out for all the family! So many things to see and do. Butterfly house, Crocs, Dinosaurs, Train ride and Petting farm. Not to mention the awesome kids playground and cafe which has some delicious food and generous portions, both of which are free to enter. And they have a new Kiwi Nocturnal experience being constructed - can't wait to check it out!
  • Loved this place. As a dinosaur lover I had to visit and wasn't disappointed. Great display area. Has other attractions as well. A small aquarium, butterfly house, crocodile, farm animals and train. A great afternoon spent here.
  • Went with my one year old toddler and we enjoyed the farm animals.. Enjoyed feeding and petting the friendly animals and enjoyed the train ride but train ride is too short for the money.
  • We only visited the farm and animals are the friendliest over there. We didn't ask the man's name who feeds goats and other animals, but he was amazing: he is super chatty with visitors, he has amazing sense of humor and seems like knows the personality of every single goat. He talks with goats and makes jokes about them when they act funny, like jumping the fence to come closer to visitors or refuse to come down for a feed. The "puppy" bunny was a funny one! Chinchilla were so exotic! Goats are exotics too and an instinct type in the farm. Very friendly animals.
