Garden Nature / Park
Be inspired by the plant collection at Auckland Botanic Gardens, where you'll learn the story of cultivation, protection, and sustainability that have created these rich, diverse tributes to the natural world. The gardens house more than 10,000 plants from around the world, and attentive and careful planting makes each of the 23 individually themed collections a sight to behold year-round. Don't miss the children's garden, which tells kids (and adults!) about the fascinating lives of plants the world over, from cacti to insect-eating rarities. The interactive exhibits and cafes add to a holistic experience for the whole family, across 64 hectares (156 acres) of proudly protected land. • I've visited the gardens many times, and there's always a new place to explore, or a new planting to enjoy. Great areas for the kids, and most are accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs. And keep an eye out for the sculptures: the permanent collection and the annual display over summer.
  • Lovely gardens. Dog friendly. This is definitely a great place to take the family and/or have a picnic. You could easily spend half a day here looking around. There is also a lovely covered area avaliable for function hire which is frequently used for weddings
  • Great place to take your dog for a walk. Only the back section of the park is a off leash area. You will see many dog owners waking through the park. There is paved walkways so you can also bike and skateboard comfortably. A small bush walk path is on site as well if you want to explore.
  • Beautiful gardens. Trees and setting to calm the soul, an oasis in the city. Well done and big thumbs up to the gardeners who work so hard. And the they do not use pesticides.
  • First visit there was really pleasantly surprised. Great area well thought out. On warm weekends parking and queues at the Cafe are both a problem.
