Sky Tower, Auckland Central

Charge your camera for panoramic photographs from Sky Tower, the tallest structure in New Zealand. Auckland's eye-catching landmark, this 328 m (1,076 ft) observation and telecommunications tower rises over the city's business district and remains best known for its unique needle-like design. An elevator whisks you to the top in less than 40 seconds, leaving plenty of time for breathtaking views from one of the observation decks. For an extra kick of adrenaline, take a peek at the city below through the glass-floor panels. If you happen to be here at sunset, you can see the colors changing over the city and enjoy a cocktail at the tower's cafe/bar. • Beautiful and impressive to look down when you're on the 61st floor. We discover the city differently. It is still difficult to walk on the windows that are on the ground!

  • The best views in Auckland by far, great experience even if you only do it once, its a must do bucket list item, even the elevator ride up is a blast with glass in the floor. :)  more »
  • I really enjoyed the Sky tower - We spent a couple of hours there and stopped at the café for a coffee I didn't do any of the additional activities just viewed the city from above. I went at sunset so...  more »

  • Iconic point of reference of the city of Auckland and the country itself. Just love being in there wait for the sun to set and wait for the city to lit up. take your parents, girlfriend or friend this place is good for everybody. Are you scared of heights, don't let your fear stop you from having the best view of the city. Ticket is a bit pricey and the coffee is not discounted. it is an expensive trip with the elevator but it is worth it. very cool to see people jumping down from the tower with relative countdown included. this piece of architecture will stand to a strong earthquake, just don't want to be there when that happen. remember to bring some coin with you if you wish to see things closer with the binoculars. don't miss the upper floor and sit down on one of the bean bags available and take your time to observe the city from the sky.
  • If you are in Auckland and didn’t visit sky tower means you missed out a amazing mark of Auckland. The good thing of this tower is it’s very much accessible and touchable unlike other towers in the world. It’s like a rocket at launch pad and ready to ignite. This is one of the oldest modern tower in Auckland. Highly recommend to visit and see the beauty of Auckland.
  • Just before the Sun sets is best time to go..see the City by day and the lights of the night.. completely transforms the landscape.. friendly staff and reasonable for price to get the 360 view of the city...
  • The Sky Tower reminded me of the Space Needle back home in Seattle. Staying in Auckland means that I had to visit the Sky Tower during my stay, and to be honest, it was exactly what you would expect. Glass windows all around for the full 360-degree view of the city. There's a nice cafe and plenty of seating for families, couples, etc. Overall a good experience with nice photos to show off. It is a tourist spot, however, and very busy during weekends.
  • The sky tower is A very signature building for New Zealand, and its the tallest free standing structure in the southern hemisphere. The elevator going up is interesting, but always packed. The views are quite good, the restaurants are cool, especially the rotating one at the top. As with all tourist places, the prices are high, but i think its still definitely worth it, even if its just a brief pop up to the top and back again.
