  • I recently visited the zoo with my children. Reasonably priced to get in (if you have a Kelly Tarlton annual pass its 20% off). Loads of different animals to see and loved the different zones for diff...  more »
  • Amazing Zoo. I have been to a few zoos overseas including the London Zoo and Auckland zoo just takes the 1st prize. The animal enclosures are awesome and very like their natural habitats. Animals seem...  more »
  • The zoo was 1922. It is therefore an old copy, which is also well maintained. There were not a whole lot to see animals, many were sleeping or hiding. There, the organization can, of course, nothing to do. Be worth this small lot to visit.

  • A great day at the zoo. They are doing lots of improvements so it can only get better. The food choices served in the zoo have also got better. Still lots of fried choices but lets hope they get some healthy choices in the future. A zoo that is well maintained and where the animals are well looked after. Great for families with lots of displays that you can enter and walk through. If you haven't been definitely give it a go.
  • It's been over 12 years since last visited. Looks pretty. positive is the learner/teacher guides for kids school. Staff in the zoo are lovely. Concern is the cafeteria. Good selection of food (be prepared for pricey as expected), yet wonder how they obtain an A grading for food when you have sparrows flying around the kitchen where food is cooked etc. Is this council run?
  • I was mainly visiting Auckland Zoo because I didn't want to leave New Zealand without having seen a real Kiwi. However the terrarium where they are supposed to be is that dark that you would need a night vision device for finding any Animals there. Even if they don't really have Kiwis probably nobody would notice. The rest of the zoo is nothing special. You can see lots of animals there like in every other one. The only thing of interest were the Orangutans who just had their fun together.
  • The biggest zoo I have ever been..today it was a good day. No rain no wind, but cold. Even cold was all good. There were some countries for the animals showing on the map, Felt like been to some countries and gone to see lots of animals. Thanks for adding some new area for new animals, everything. Appreciate it. With the food review, I think the food there close to the entrance was okay. Thought the cafe food quality could do better. Other them that, everything is all good.
  • From Japan:) There are many lovely animals in the huge zoo. I strongly recommend to choose sunny day to visit there. When we went there it was raining in the morning, and there are no animals outside.... In the afternoon, we could see animals moving around as sun luckily came back. My teacher told me when is the best time to see kiwis, and it seems to be afternoon. In the morning, they sleep and not move around. I could see living kiwis for the first time ever, but they were really cute!!
