  • The rail tunnel is near the camping area on SH73. Great views from the lookout and the railway. History and hard work to make this area passable!  more »
  • It was a grey cold day but still the view is amazing. Good info panels on the history of the viaduct and the area.  more »
  • Worth a stop to view this engineering feat & contemplate where the original road used to go! No wonder it was called death corner!  more »

  • Good place to stop after negotiating the windy road. Great view of the viaduct and valley and usually a few keas hanging around looking for photo opportunities
  • We met a couple of Kea here. Be careful with these birds, they are rare and precious. Absolutely lovely. The Viaduct is nice - birds cooler.
  • Worth the drive! Keas come up really close for great photos
  • Amazing view and always see Kea birds
  • Visited in April 2016, it was drizzling when we drove here. No other visitors, no sign of Kea (damn, really disappointed). But the view is really magnificent, it just makes you feel so tiny to stand in front of the divide of great mountains. Be careful with the traffic around, steep road and zigzagging road.
