Kea Point Walk, Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu)
(4.5/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
A walk along Kea Point Walk yields excellent views of Mt. Cook (known in Māori as Aoraki) and Mueller Glacier. The well-maintained footpath starts at the Hooker Valley campground and parking lot and stretches out for 2.8 km (1.72 mi). The easy walk is suitable for all the family, including a baby in an all-terrain stroller. Note, however, that there is no shelter along the way, so walking here on particularly windy or rainy days may be unadvisable. To visit Kea Point Walk and get the most from your holiday in Mt. • This walking path is amazing because anyone can do it (while being careful) and the views are spectacular. On a fine day you will be able to see Mt Cook pretty close up. It takes around 30-40 minutes ...  more »
  • what a great walk to see the beautiful glacier. Easy to do for everyone even though it is over rocks. Strollers would not be able to go up this though.
  • We took the wrong entrance in the carpark and meant to head towards the hooker valley track and stumbled upon kea point walk instead which turned out to be a nice detour. Suitable terrain for all ages...  more »
