Journey through some of the island's lushest coastal landscapes along Abel Tasman Coast Track, arguably the nation's most popular hiking route. Stretching 51 km (32 mi) through the surrounding Abel Tasman National Park, the trail features numerous side-branches, resting spots, and natural points of interest. Grab some comfortable walking shoes and hit the well-marked path, admiring secluded beaches, sweeping ocean views, and winding rivers along your way. Though it takes several days to travel the track in its entirety, you can get a solid taste of the area by opting for a smaller section of the path. Bear in mind during your trek that some portions of the trail are only crossable at low tide, so plan accordingly.
