Poon Hill, Pokhara

(4.6/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Poon Hill offers panoramic vistas of the Annapurna Massif, blooming rhododendron forests, and picturesque Gurung villages. The trail that begins and ends in Pokhara--Nepal's second-largest city--is short but steep and features numerous stone steps. Family-run teahouses along the way provide overnight stays and meals. Dress appropriately, as it can get quite cold at the top--especially if you visit before sunrise. • Must go see the Himalaya ranges from here. An hour trek from Gorephani, there are stone stairs to get up and an easy walk.
  • It would have been nice if the weather was good and clear when you're up here. But if the weather is bad, foggy, cloudy, this place has nothing else to offer and nothing else to do. If the weather is bad, you won't see anything here that you couldn't see elsewhere along your trek. There's plenty of sitting area but it's in the open, no cover from rain or wind. The one tea / snacks shop that's up there is very expensive. It's one of those love it or hate it place (although it's really the weather's fault if you hate it.)
  • Great sunrise views of the Anapurna Mountain ranges
  • A short, fun and very popular trek route in Nepal, the Ghorepani-Poonhill-Trek takes you to this exquisite location from where you can have an uninterrupted view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna (2 of the top 10 tallest mountains in the world), the iconic Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre) and other peaks as well.
  • Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is very popular and short trek in Nepal. We will climb upto 3210m and will have beautiful sunrise and stunning views of Himalayas. Most loved trail in Nepal.
