Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake), Pokhara

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web
Visit Nepal’s second largest lake, Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake), and enjoy a peaceful walk along its scenic banks. The lake is a semi-natural body of water, fed by streams but regulated by a dam, and features an island with a Hindu temple. Hike or cycle around the lake, surrounded by verdant forest on one side, with the touristy lakeside area on its eastern bank. Rent a vividly painted boat and set off on the lake’s calm water, which reflects the towering Annapurna mountain range. • The Phewa Lake there are so many things to do, the most common is to rent a boat or a canoe. We are four friends, with little experience of canoeing so to be together we opted for the boat. Fantastic very fantastic, the renting price per a day varies from 800 to 1000 Rs, which divided between all is a ridiculous price. By boat you can reach many places along the Lake, from where you can moor your boat is a walk to restaurants-bar where to have lunch, dinner or just a drink enjoying a magnificent view. There is also a small island that you can reach by boat where there is the biggest restaurant at the Lake. We haven't been to the restaurants-bars but we enjoyed a wonderful hike to world peace stupa (located on the opposite side of the Lake above the town of Pokhara) and then return to our boat and continue round the Lake. It was magnificent, steer the boat is simple, as there are no strong currents it is easy for anyone, I saw families and kids travel around the Lake then really is suitable for everyone. For who does not appreciate paddling there are also pedal boats and boats with oarsman from renting though I imagine they cost more. For fishing lovers like me there is also the possibility to rent Of fishing rods, apparently you don't need any special fishing permit so alive! I unfortunately I found out late so I ended up renting a bamboo stick with a hook and a fishing line long a meter and a half without reel (very funny anyway) but for those who want something better in stores on the road (before descending to rent the boat) there is the possibility to rent decent fishing rods! Have fun! Highly recommended to all, really easy, nice and clean! Ten more!
