Bat Cave, Pokhara

2.8
#4 of 12 in Wildlife in Pokhara
Visit Bat Cave to see thousands of bats clinging to the ceiling. As you pass through the slippery dark cave, you'll see plenty of live fruit bats, which your guide will tell you about. If scared or claustrophobic, you don’t have to go through the whole cave, but can stick to the more open spaces. If, however, you like a bit of an adrenaline rush, follow the guide and crawl through the tiny opening leading to the surface. • One of the most entertaining cave of Nepal. The best is when you get our of the small hole which directs you to exit.
  • If you like climbing, this place is highly recommended!! First time I climbed, in a dark cave with bats dangling on the ceiling!!! And for your own safety, please please please hire a guide. The cave has 3 stories (floors), and hard to get out from there. Guide is necessarily needed.
  • Yes, the exit is somewhat challenging if you're not prepared for it - and you must also be of relatively small stature to fit through the true "exit". It's a bit of a climb and a shimmy through a small space to get out, you will very likely get mud or dirt in your clothes. Best not to try this when it is raining unless you want to be completely soaked by the end of this experience.
  • Adventurous exploration of a dark cave. Residence to a large number of bats. Must go place to seek some fear.
  • Beautiful cave and so many bats as name suggests.

Where to stay in Pokhara

The country's second largest city has long been on the radar of international travelers, so you won't be disappointed with the number of places to stay in town. Most people look no further than the lakeside area, and if you're only in town for a short while, it really makes sense to stay by the water. You'll find standard larger hotels and pristine boutiques with attractive gardens and views, as well as a number of guesthouses run by families and aimed at backpackers. If you're going to be in town for a while longer, take a look at the rental properties available, either by the lake or in some of the less-frequented residential districts.
