Built on a tiny island on Phewa Lake, Barahi temple offers a sanctuary for Hindu worshippers and Buddhists alike. Access the two-storey pagoda via one of the many short (5-minute) private boat rides. Observe the worshippers and idol representing the goddess Durga in the form of a boar. Make an offering, ring a bell, and look at the other Buddha statues around the temple. Pack a picnic to enjoy alongside the old trees and calm surface of the lake. Some food stalls on the island offer fish snacks. Barahi temple is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Pokhara Edition.

  • Situated in the middle of the lake. Very nice view from the temple. One can also get a view of Annapurna Himalayan range, sarangkot and world piece pagoda.
  • A wonderful place with Goddess Barahi. A tiny island in Phewa lake.
  • The boat ride to the temple was fantastic. Enjoyed every bit of it. The temple on the island was beautiful. Amazing views all around.
  • Tal Barahi Temple is a small pagoda-style temple. The original structure of the temple is made of stone and has a thadched roof. As the Temple is on a small island in Phewa lake, the only way to visit it is by boat.
