Barahi temple, Pokhara

4.0
#2 of 6 in Sightseeing in Pokhara
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Built on a tiny island on Phewa Lake, Barahi temple offers a sanctuary for Hindu worshippers and Buddhists alike. Access the two-storey pagoda via one of the many short (5-minute) private boat rides. Observe the worshippers and idol representing the goddess Durga in the form of a boar. Make an offering, ring a bell, and look at the other Buddha statues around the temple. Pack a picnic to enjoy alongside the old trees and calm surface of the lake. Some food stalls on the island offer fish snacks. Barahi temple is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Pokhara Edition.

  • Your visit this curious along the promenade by the Lake rather than the temple itself, it is very simple, you see it in a few minutes. The temple itself is no big deal. And on the island there is nothing else to do.

  • I have been there many times and each time you feel to go again. This is like an island and need to take a boat by paying around NPR 60 per persons for two way. There is a famous hindu temple where pe...  more »
  • If you rent a boat is worth stand 5-10 minutes to walk around the island. In it you will find temples, good views and any souvenir shop...

  • Its a goddess temple in the middle of the the lake. You can get there by rowing boat. The view of the lake is beautiful from the small island. The temple itself is small but beautiful with a lot of pigeon on the island and fishes around the island.
  • A holy site in the middle of a beautiful lake, what else could you ask more. For those who're planning to visit Pokhara, Tal Barahi temple is a must go. One of the most beautiful shrine I've seen in my life.
  • What could be more fun than being at a religious Temple in middle of the lake? This place is rich of awesomeness.
  • If you plan around the sun and how you want to spend your time on the lake you can get an amazing experience out of this. Lovley little temple in the middle of the lake.
  • Temple at the middle of the lake. Can enjoy boating and worship goddess barahi.

Where to stay in Pokhara

The country's second largest city has long been on the radar of international travelers, so you won't be disappointed with the number of places to stay in town. Most people look no further than the lakeside area, and if you're only in town for a short while, it really makes sense to stay by the water. You'll find standard larger hotels and pristine boutiques with attractive gardens and views, as well as a number of guesthouses run by families and aimed at backpackers. If you're going to be in town for a while longer, take a look at the rental properties available, either by the lake or in some of the less-frequented residential districts.
