  • We visited Lumbini as part of a G Adventures tour. The Maya Devi Temple was one of the highlights of the tour. Lots of walking, but it is definitely worth it. Very spiritual and beautiful.
  • If you visit Nepal should go to Lumbini nearly as must-see for the historical connotations. The Maya Devi Temple is very well preserved. Simple and always with much people visiting it. to all the enclosure both outside as inside of the temple is going barefoot. Before entering there is an intended place so everyone leave their shoes. Near the main entrance are the ticket offices to buy the ticket. Inside the temple you can see the exact spot where he was supposedly born Gautama Buddha. While you do own orderly queue to see the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, you can see the details of the archaeological remains that are within what is now the Maya Devi Temple. In the exterior you can visit the tree sacred guarded by monks Buddhist. The pilgrims and Buddhists pray and make offerings. In addition to the temple Devi Maya I recommend to visit different Buddhist temples representing the different Buddhist countries in Asia and some in Europe. Visit can be done on foot, bike or rent a ricksaw. There is also parking by car in the same bus stops that also reach the large complex of temples.

  • An very awesome place to visit in Nepal. Many historical and architectural monuments can be observed. The palce is really fascinating. Its better to be here either in motorbike or a cycle. Walking around here is also good but takes a bit more time and the weather is pretty hot here. Its better to visit between November and April.
  • Birth place of budhha, everyone can feel the serenity here, calm and quite with a huje historic evidence will sure give a impact in mind. Structure leftovers, "stupa" (locally called) are the same like Ballal Sen's Dhibi leftovers. Monks form different countries are busy in meditation in aintained Small green fields around the temple. Photography is not allowed in the temple, and everyone should follow the line to see the actual center place of the temple. You will have to get tickets (10 Nepalese Rupee per ticket) to enter the temple, but they accept any currency as well as you have to take of your shoes to enter the temple. The temple is heavily guarded by the nepal police. Outside of the temple there is a pond beside a old tree where monks are ready to read out the goodness of fate and life on behalf of some "Pranami".

  • The believed birthplace of Gautama Buddha. We had a wonderful time exploring the temple and others in the vicinity. We rented some bikes as the distances between the various temples can be vast. We spent 2 days exploring complex. A great way to learn about Buddhism.
