Lumbini Monastic Site, Lumbini

(4.1/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
See the birthplace of Buddha at Lumbini Monastic Site, where you can admire monasteries and temples featuring designs from all around the world. The site combines many temples to create a huge open-air museum, with its east monastic zone dedicated to Theravada monasteries, and the west zone featuring traditional Mahayana monasteries. Keep an eye out for the many birds that inhabit the site, as well as the plentiful fish in living in a series of ponds. You can walk or rent a bike to get around the expansive complex. • Two opinions: the religious side or the temples are beautiful and durable made, we meet many pilgrims and we appreciate the architecture, different visions of Buddhism and the State of mind (of the monasteries for peace), Ca it is interesting and invited to the spiritual path. Next, the village of lumbini or we don't see no tourists and therefore no religious, and where poverty is omnipresent. It's hard to swallow when visiting two sites in the same day. I felt less hypocritical in the village to share smiles and photos with locals in the monasteries resembles cold though well-meaning...
