Manakamana Temple, Kurintar

#8 of 19 in Things to do in Narayani Zone
A modern cable car takes you to Manakamana Temple, a 17th century pagoda-style sanctuary dedicated to one of Parvati's incarnations-- Bhagwati. After an exciting ride up with stunning views of the mountains and green valley, admire the red and black colored and lavishly decorated temple standing 1,302 m (4,270 ft) above sea level. Feel the holy ambiance and enter the small dark chamber displaying ancient ornaments covered in dust and ashes. Many pilgrims come to worship here and often sacrifice animals-- infact there is a cable carriage for animals just for this purpose. Absorb the breathtaking views of the Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Annapurna mountains to the north, and grab some souvenirs and taste local food from the nearby street vendors. • Its a very beautiful temple however the temple is in renovation stage at this time after it was damaged due to earthquake. Most of the time there's huge number of Pilgrims lining up to worship the Goddess regardless of any days round the year.
  • Saturday and Tuesday are way too much crowded. 5 to 6 hours of queue while boarding and returning. I will suggest to escape these days. Or reach there at early morning.
  • One of the renowned Hindu temple of Nepal, popular for it's beauty, religious values, location and cable car facility. A long queue of pilgrims all over the year can be encountered. Traveling in air in between the mountains, through the clouds is worth your visit.
