Manakamana Temple, Kurintar
(4.5/5 based on 85+ reviews on the web)
A modern cable car takes you to Manakamana Temple, a 17th century pagoda-style sanctuary dedicated to one of Parvati's incarnations-- Bhagwati. After an exciting ride up with stunning views of the mountains and green valley, admire the red and black colored and lavishly decorated temple standing 1,302 m (4,270 ft) above sea level. Feel the holy ambiance and enter the small dark chamber displaying ancient ornaments covered in dust and ashes. Many pilgrims come to worship here and often sacrifice animals-- infact there is a cable carriage for animals just for this purpose. Absorb the breathtaking views of the Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Annapurna mountains to the north, and grab some souvenirs and taste local food from the nearby street vendors. Arrange your visit to Manakamana Temple and discover more family-friendly attractions in Kurintar using our Kurintar holiday planner.

  • This place has a different beauty...amazing plce but nw there is nothing only logs and bricks.... We have to go by rope way (cable car) to reach there...the temple is about 4000ft above sea level...first whn the cable will start u will nt understand, u'll think that Ooo the temple is here only but whn it will start moving u will be shocked.....u have to cross 3 mountains to we reach the temple and the view is jst breathtaking....ull get little scared also because its very steep... But u have to go early as possible because u hve to go by cable car and return back in tht only...they will nt wait fr u and also there is very long line inside...we wre the last one to visit the temple jst 3 days before the earthquake...
  • The journey and travel to Wish-fulfilling Mother Goddess is full of beautiful landscapes on the way. The peace you find once you reach the hill-top is great. You may call it grace .
