Shree Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu

4.2
Pay a visit to the sprawling complex of Shree Pashupatinath Temple, the oldest temple in Kathmandu, and one of the most sacred Hindu shrines. Dedicated to Pashupati, an incarnation of Shiva and patron of animals, the numerous temples and shrines of the complex straddle both sides of the Bagmati River. While the main temple and courtyard can only be accessed by Hindu devotees, visitors can explore the rest of the grounds. On a tour of the famous temple, you might encounter meditating sadhus, deer, and monkeys, or even witness a funeral pyre, as the temple attracts the elderly who come here to die and be cremated in the sacred river. • The almighty, the lord resides here (in our belief). Whatever the myths say, the place is so beautiful and filled with positive vibes and radiations... One of the most important Holy Place for Hindus all over the world. Pashupatinath temple and the environment intrigue me so much that I want to spend a lot of time there. Everyday at dusk, AARATI (prayers) is carried out, the charm of which is so immense, that it literally hypnotizes you....
  • One of my best experiences in Nepal. Even if tourists can’t go into the temple, around the temple is a lot going on. In the evenings take cremations of Hindus place on raised platforms along the holy river. Especially for those who don’t go to Varanasi in India, i highly recommend it. We had a tour guide showing us around, especially as a non Hindu i could use some help to understand the rituals. He didn’t want a fix price, we just could give him what it was worth for us.
  • This is one of the most visited place in Nepal. people from India especially visit Nepal to visit Pashupatinath Temple as it is most important tourist destinations it is also very well maintained Systematic but the recent earthquake shook it off and destroyed it completely still the main sanctum stands as it is there are also numerous small temples around it and it's too important and great as per mythology in Hindu religion a must visit place not only because of its religious importance but also how well it is being maintained in the valley along with its scenery and other market areas
  • I just be there every dusk for evening prayer dedicated to Lord Shiva. It's really a peaceful place to chill with your loved ones. It's a religious destination for various Hindus around the world. It is regarded as one of the most important temples of Shiva. And the holy river Bagmati also carries various religious importances. I go there to spend my time with books and sometimes diary too. I love this place personally. There are various facilities like toilet and desks to sit. You'll get an awesome memory to remember.
  • We came here yesterday to have a look at this famous temple. We followed the locals to the entrance but we were stopped by officials to buy a ticket. We thought it's ok since we're not Hindus and are not here for praying. But they wanted 10$ each and that was simply out of our budget. Also even if we would have paid the 20$ we wouldn't have been allowed to go inside. I really think it's sad that they can't be honest and just tell us that they don't want any atheists or Christians on the site. Or if that's not the problem and we anyways can just see it from outside, charge us something anyone can afford. We were pretty disappointed also because this happened to us a lot of times in Asian countries and we wanted to get all the cultural impressions. Sadly that's not possible.
