Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu

Must see · Religious Site · Tourist Spot
One of the largest and most important structures of its kind in the country, Boudhanath Stupa holds a spot on the World Heritage List and serves as an icon of the city. Pay a visit to this holy site and you'll find it an epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism in the region, as the complex features a number of monasteries around it. Marvel at the stupa's massive base, topped with a sizable dome and a towering manadala, the golden triangular spire at the top. You can also admire the colorful statues around the dome and the tower's mysterious painted-on eyes. Rumor has it that circling the stupa can help to free you from your sins. The devastating earthquake in April of 2015 severely damaged the structure, causing the removal of the entire top portion and calling for a massive reconstruction project. • As every time I am touched by the view, the peace and easiness going around. The mixture of devotees and travellars and in this covid times still the easiness of going around and doing your own.  more »
  • Once look at the picture available you will be forced to visit.🤩
  • When you enter the gate you automatically feel peaceful looking at the white stupa. It's a really beautiful place buzzing with people all around. It holds a cultural value and a good tourist destination for a quick round. There are really beautiful restaurants and shops all around. Recommended for a visit.
  • It is a ancient boudha monastry of kathmandu valley...except shyambhu natha monastry
  • One of the best spots in Nepal and the world (UNESCO World heritage 1979-present) Support Nepali and Tibetan businesses. No disrespect to the Chinese, but support the local business so that they don’t take over a religious area and get political and in few hundred years claim this land. Jokes aside you get the drift.
  • One of the best places to hang out, be it with your gang or your significant other. The rooftop restaurants here are one of the best in terms of both view and food. Want a hangout place with the boys? Want a quiet dinner with your partner? This is the place for you.
