Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu

(4.6/5 based on 5,000+ reviews on the web)
One of the largest and most important structures of its kind in the country, Boudhanath Stupa holds a spot on the World Heritage List and serves as an icon of the city. Pay a visit to this holy site and you'll find it an epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism in the region, as the complex features a number of monasteries around it. Marvel at the stupa's massive base, topped with a sizable dome and a towering manadala, the golden triangular spire at the top. You can also admire the colorful statues around the dome and the tower's mysterious painted-on eyes. Rumor has it that circling the stupa can help to free you from your sins. The devastating earthquake in April of 2015 severely damaged the structure, causing the removal of the entire top portion and calling for a massive reconstruction project. • A Spiritual Place. Believe to be built with a million dewdrops when the valley was reeling under acute water shortage for years. Recently rebuilt with local initiative and donation after great 2015 Earthquake. We love to go there especially for a coffee by the Stupa.
  • The UN heritage site has almost no flaws. This place, similar to the Patan Durbar Square brings back memories of the old Nepal. This place offers authentic food which tastes delicious. However, the foreign cuisines prepared by the locals are not a recommendation from my side.
  • This is a big and beautiful stupaa. As soon as you walk into the area, you find everyone walking around the stupa spinning the prayer wheels along the way. It is a beautiful . There are lots of monasteries and little shops along the outside that you can go in .
  • Nice place to visit in Kathmandu. You can see Tibetan culture here . Luckily I was visited in a special day and experienced some special activity from them. Overall nice place.
  • Holy place for Buddhist of all over the world. Big stupa, popular among Tibetan Buddhism. Peaceful and retreat for meditation.
