Taumadhi Square, Bhaktapur

(4.7/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Examples of intricate traditional temple architecture encircle Taumadhi Square, a large plaza in Bhaktapur. The Nyatapola temple to Siddhi Laxmi, goddess of female creativity and power, dominates the square. Nepali King Bhupatindra Malla oversaw the construction of this five-tiered wooden building (Nepal's tallest pagoda temple), completed in 1702. Other impressive temples, including the intricate Bhairavnath temple to Bhairab, abut the plaza. Afterwards, wander over to the nearby area where potters create and sell earthenware crafts. • This square is part of Bhaktupur and is considered to be one of the best. I enjoyed eating at the New Nyatapola Cafe and taking pictures of the square. Traffic can be annoying and the place could be b...  more »
  • One of the central places of Bhaktapur. His heart Nyatapola Temple of course, though, and lower than Bhajrawnath it pleases the eye beauty and warns the power standing on guard. A vibrant: the locals, tourists, trade and sadhus, is literally everything. It is worth to visit the pubs (especially I recommend one of these on their roofs because of the unique views) and enjoy this place. Moreover, you can also eat quite tasty and drink good beer. Nyatapola Temple circle is a currency that offers currency exchange after a reasonable course. Beautiful place and probably more interesting than the Durbar, and certainly less destroyed. Great Nepali.

  • In my opinion the most beautiful part of Kathmandu. The place with the temple is simply impressive.
