Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 45 reviews on the web
The oldest part of the former royal palace, Taleju Chowk represents an important religious site both for locals and pilgrims. Although non-Hindus cannot enter, all visitors may look through the doorway for a glimpse of the interior. Outside, explore other parts of this 16th-century masterpiece of architecture, from the golden entryway, to the courtyard and numerous wall carvings depicting scenes from Indian mythology. Look for the statue of the goddess Taleju Bhawani, to whom the temple is dedicated, kneeling on a column. Don't bring or wear anything made of leather, since such items are prohibited. Arrange to visit Taleju Chowk and other attractions in Bhaktapur using our Bhaktapur vacation trip planner.
