Pottery Square, Bhaktapur

(3.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Observe the potters at work at Pottery Square, and then take the opportunity to purchase finished articles from the shops that line the square. Generations of potters have worked in this area--actually a network of small streets--one of two traditional pottery hubs in Bhaktapur. Watch as artisans fire the pots in straw and mud kilns at the back of the square, and then stroll around to admire the rows upon rows of pots baking in the sun, rotated every so often by their maker. You can combine your visit with a stop at the nearby temples and shrine. To visit Pottery Square and other attractions in Bhaktapur, use our Bhaktapur trip generator.

  • Potters square do not kidnap. You can track the process of the formation of clay products but you do not need to fly to Nepal. The biggest advantage of this place is that in order to get here you have to go around the narrow streets of Bhaktapur. And those are beautiful and better for them to take some time. See the local life, the appearance of the houses, the climate. "Circumstances".

  • In fact, this is not worth a special visit. There are here and there a few pots drying, but you cannot see potters at work. To see that , you should go to the pottery village Thimi. There you can see ...  more »
  • In this part of the city you can see all the stages of pottery, from the creation of the dough, turning, until the drying and firing. The artifacts are obviously of different quality and price, it's not hard to buy something nice for pennies.
