  • Located in the center of Bhaktapur Durbar square the 55 window palace, or Palace of Fifty-Five Windows, was built by King Bhupatindra Malla. Today the 55 Window Palace still stands as Bhaktapur's Royal Palace on ceremonial occasions. The interior of the 55 Window Palace is closed.
  • The palace was very well maintained, a lot of people get startled by the amount of security there and wont enter the palace. I would recommend you to ask the guards who are there, they are very chilled and would answer your question and depending on the situation would also allow you to enter.
  • Masterpiece of art made by one of the malla king Bhupatindra Malla Here is the collection of different artifacts from that period of time. really amazed seeing the palace.
  • Most maintained and we'll preserved palace in bhaktapur durbar square.
  • UNESCO listed world heritage site, Bhaktapur Durbar square is more than three hundred years old. It is a must visit place in Bhaktapur. And when you are there, don't forget to taste the locally made curd popularly known as "juju dhau".

Where to stay in Bhaktapur

Peaceful and less crowded than Kathmandu, Bhaktapur lies close to the international airport, making it a good base for a Nepal vacation. You'll need to pay for a ticket to enter the city, but the proceeds from foreigners' visits help with reconstruction and restoration of Bhaktapur's countless historic buildings. Choose from a variety of accommodation options, most of them cozy, family-run guesthouses and inns situated in traditional buildings with modern amenities. Since vehicles are prohibited in Bhaktapur, plan to explore the tranquil town on foot. Fortunately, most of the hotels and guesthouses cluster around the historic center.
