Japanese Guns, Yaren

#3 of 7 in Things to do in Nauru
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Japanese Guns provide insight into the history of the island firsthand. Scattered across the periphery, these abandoned guns are hidden away in people’s gardens and public parks as they were left. You can come close to the weaponry used in the 1940s Japanese occupation of the island and witness the decaying legacy of a trying time for the local population. Be sure to avoid touching the objects, as they haven’t been inspected for safety. For a better understanding of the story behind the metal guns, hire a local guide who will provide additional information. Put Japanese Guns and other Yaren attractions into our Yaren day trip app, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It is hidden in the Nauruan jungle with no signs, so you need a local to take you there, and they are una great location, once you climb to the Guns you have great views over the Nauruan jungle  more »
  • Interesting place to visit, lots of old army equipment just sitting in the middle of nowhere, you can walk right up and touch them.  more »
