Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue, Yangon (Rangoon)
Categories: History Museums, Museums, Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Myanmar’s only synagogue, Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue stands the test of time, beautifully maintained to serve the small Jewish community of the city. Constructed in 1893 and tucked into a busy street, the building is a listed heritage site of the city and a remnant of the country’s colonial era. Once a thriving place of worship, the synagogue now serves fewer than 20 members, but still opens its doors for services and as a museum. Visit in the morning, admiring the Torah reading table, ornate balconies, and delicate white and blue decorations depicting the Star of David motif. Bijzonder dat midden in zo'n drukke doorsnee wijk van Yangon zo'n authentieke synagoge ligt. T lag er voor Birmese begrippen goed bij!Particular that right in such a busy average area of Yangon such a synagogue is authentic. T was very good for Burmese!show original
First time visiting a synagogue. Eye opening experience. We were impressed by the architecture and the artifacts in the synagogue

A Beautiful synagogue, hidden in plain site. Lovingly cared for with much history in a changing city.
