Maha Bandoola Garden, Yangon (Rangoon)

3.3
#3 of 12 in Parks in Yangon (Rangoon)
Nature / Park
Kick back or take a stroll on the well-maintained grounds of Maha Bandoola Garden, a green lung of downtown Yangon. The park’s Independence Monument, an imposing obelisk which replaced a statue of Queen Victoria, commemorates the country's 1948 independence from the British. Join locals in doing sports here early in the morning, or seek photo opportunities among the bonsai-style trees or of the colonial architecture around. A playground entertains kids, free WiFi keeps you connected, and clean public toilets are available for when nature calls. Where to stay in Yangon (Rangoon)

It can be difficult to find decent budget accommodations in Yangon, especially downtown, where rooms are usually small and booked months in advance. Look farther away from the city center for cozier budget options, often with complimentary breakfast included. The Kandawgyi lakeside features a number of high-end establishments.

  • There is not much to see or do here. This park is located near Sule Pagoda so just a drive through on the way to Sule pagoda would suffice.  more »
