Maha Bandoola Garden, Yangon (Rangoon)
(3.8/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Kick back or take a stroll on the well-maintained grounds of Maha Bandoola Garden, a green lung of downtown Yangon. The park’s Independence Monument, an imposing obelisk which replaced a statue of Queen Victoria, commemorates the country's 1948 independence from the British. Join locals in doing sports here early in the morning, or seek photo opportunities among the bonsai-style trees or of the colonial architecture around. A playground entertains kids, free WiFi keeps you connected, and clean public toilets are available for when nature calls. • Nothing much to shout about. just a large park near Sule pagoda. if you happen to want go to sule pagoda, it is just near it. if not dont bother to make a trip to the park.
  • Pros: - we walked here from Sule Pagoda which is literally just across the street, and wanted to sit down and rest for about. Was a good decision! Great place to people watch! - the locals are super f...  more »

  • I come to this place every weekday when I was attending MPS for Photography. This park got a very dramatic change in recent years. Used to be a mess but now it's a great place for families, friends and for wedding photography. Really nice to see the park which is located in the heart of Yangon looks so green and clean. Needs more maintenance and improvements of course. But great. Might be hot at noon.
  • Nice central garden in Yangon. Come here and watch the locals relax & socialize. There's also free wifi in the park, although we were never successful in connecting.
  • Yangon people are very happy when they see green zone like this. At the start of Democracy era, traffic is so bad that they feel free and relax in public park. They dream of freedom.
