Kheng Hock Keong Chinese Temple, Yangon (Rangoon)

The Kheng Hock Keong, also known as the Kheng Hock Keong or Qingfu Temple, is the largest and oldest temple to the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu in Yangon, Burma. It is located on the corner of Sintodan Street and Strand Road in Latha Township. It was originally built as a wooden temple in 1861 and completed in 1863. A new brick building was completed in 1903, costing over 153,000 rupees. Kheng Hock Keong is maintained by a Hokkien Chinese clan association. The temple attracts mostly Hokkien and Hakka worshipers, while the other temple in Latha Township, called the Guanyin Gumiao Temple, attracts Cantonese worshipers.

  • I come here and feel China town, country Thailand. Because it is a Chinese temple and there are gods, worship. How do I access to merit? There are many Chinese people there, including European tourists, who stood watch, some people like a little confused standing that wish to Wai? Outside, people rarely noisy parking near the pier.   • One of two chinese temples situated in downtown. A Kwan Yin Temple. An everlasting symbol of traditional chinese culture in 21st century. A lot of worshippers comes to temple in full moon and Chinese new year. I am sure those who have grown up in china town have a lot of memories with this place. It becomes a must visit place for chinese tourists who come to Myanmar.
